Hackathon with artists for Metavenues
After a successful meeting in Groningen at SPOT with professionals, on Friday 8 March it was the turn of artists to discuss the future of performing arts in a think tank at Bozar in Brussels. Fifteen international artists from different genres, many already working daily with immersive technologies, came together to brainstorm. They pondered how existing venues can transform within the emerging immersive virtual entertainment industry.
Looking to the future together
We are about to witness a revolutionary merging of digital worlds with our familiar spaces. The challenge? Redefining our physical infrastructure to fit seamlessly with tomorrow’s entertainment. Does this mean getting rid of rows of seats to create flexible spaces that support the creativity and innovation of immersive creators? Questions like this all came up during the hackathon.
Influence of technological developments
In a world where audiences, artists and professionals are influenced by lightning-fast technological advances, a dynamic environment emerges. Together, we explore the possibilities of engaging audiences in these new forms of experiences.
From concept to practice
The aim of these meetings (7 and 8 March) was to jointly explore future possibilities for stages in the world of metaverse and thanks to immersive technologies. The discussions were constructive and generated many new ideas. We are convinced that these discussions will initiate an interesting change in our relationship to arts and culture. Based on the outcomes, a prototype will be developed, which will be evaluated and improved by the same groups based on practical experience. A follow-up session is planned for this autumn.
