Indie rockzanger Johannes Sigmond kun je kennen als Blaudzun. Hij debuteerde in 2008 met meeslepende folk noir, in combinatie met zijn sterke melancholische stem. Zijn sound evolueerde door de jaren en met zijn derde album Heavy Flowers brak hij Europees door.
Vrijdag 3 mei verscheen Shades, de nieuwe single van Blaudzun. Het lied is de voorbode van zijn nieuwe album Latter Days dat de zanger tegelijkertijd met een bijbehorende clubtour aankondigt. Blaudzun liet eerder al twee voorproefjes horen van zijn nieuwe plaat. De catchy singles Dreamers, die met dat aanstekelijke fluitje, en Summer Song werden door fans en volgers omarmd en door veel radiozenders op hun playlists gezet.
Shades is de derde single van het album dat op 18 oktober verschijnt en is een heerlijke popsong met herkenbare 80’s bass synths, lyrics vol levenslust, en een onontkoombare melodie. Blaudzun produceerde Shades samen met indie-rock veteraan en Moss-frontman Marien Dorleijn. De mixage was in handen van Robin Hunt. In het nummer benadrukt de songwriter zijn liefde voor rocksongs met goede hooks waarbij melancholie en hoop hand in hand gaan.
Latter Days is Blaudzun’s zevende officiële studio album. Een nieuwe plaat betekent natuurlijk ook een nieuwe tour. Vanaf februari 2025 tourt Blaudzun met zijn zeskoppige band langs de grote Nederlandse clubs waarna ook andere Europese landen op het programma staan.

Hoewel de alt-folk van la loye vaak wordt omschreven als lo-fi of ongepolijst, zit het project vol verborgen details in zowel geluid als tekst. la loye bewandelt niet de platgetreden paden van het menselijke bewustzijn, maar dwaalt langs spannende olifantenpaadjes, donkere uitlopers en prachtige open vlaktes.

Over the years, his sound evolved, and with his third album, Heavy Flowers, he achieved a breakthrough across Europe.
On Friday, May 3, Blaudzun released Shades, the lead single from his upcoming album Latter Days, which he announced alongside an accompanying club tour. Fans have already had a taste of the new record with two earlier singles: Dreamers, with its infectious whistling hook, and Summer Song, both of which have been embraced by fans and featured on numerous radio playlists.
Shades, the third single from the album set for release on October 18, is an irresistible pop song infused with signature ‘80s bass synths, lyrics brimming with vitality, and an inescapable melody. Blaudzun co-produced Shades with indie rock veteran and Moss frontman Marien Dorleijn, while the mix was handled by Robin Hunt. The song highlights Blaudzun’s passion for rock songs with strong hooks, where melancholy and hope seamlessly intertwine.
Latter Days will be Blaudzun’s seventh studio album, and a new record means a new tour. Starting in February 2025, Blaudzun will tour the major Dutch venues with his six-piece band, followed by performances across various European countries.
