Multi-instrumentalist Cory Henry komt opnieuw naar Groningen! Zijn energie, charisma, maar vooral de manier waarop Henry zijn talent op zowel orgel, piano en synthesizers laat zien, heeft hem een grote schare fans opgeleverd. Met succesvolle albums in jazz, gospel, funk, latin en pop is deze toetsenist van alle markten thuis. Dit najaar tourt Cory voor het éérst helemaal in zijn eentje door Europa voor een reeks solo piano concerten!
Henry speelt al sinds zijn tweede jaar orgel en sindsdien heeft hij met jazz, gospel en elektronica als bouwstenen een eigen funky sound ontwikkeld. Hij werkte samen met Kirk Franklin, Robert Glasper, Lalah Hathaway, The Roots, Michael McDonald en Bruce Springsteen. Zijn werk als componist, producer en allround zwarte band op de toetsen hebben hem Grammy’s voor Best Progressive R&B Album, Latin Album of the Year en onlangs ook Best Alternative Jazz opgeleverd. Henry verwierf bekendheid als de energieke motor van fusioncollectief Snarky Puppy. Hij verliet deze band in 2018 om zich meer te focussen op soloprojecten en is inmiddels één van de drijvende krachten achter de hedendaagse jazzscene.
Multi-instrumentalist Cory Henry is coming back to Groningen! His energy, charisma, and especially the way Henry showcases his talent on organ, piano, and synthesizers, have earned him a large fan base. With successful albums in jazz, gospel, funk, Latin, and pop, this keyboardist is versatile in many fields. This fall, Cory will be touring Europe solo for the first time, presenting a series of solo piano concerts!
Henry has been playing the organ since he was two years old and has since developed his own funky sound using jazz, gospel, and electronics as building blocks. He has collaborated with Kirk Franklin, Robert Glasper, Lalah Hathaway, The Roots, Michael McDonald, and Bruce Springsteen. His work as a composer, producer, and all-around black belt on the keys has earned him Grammys for Best Progressive R&B Album, Latin Album of the Year, and recently also Best Alternative Jazz. Henry gained fame as the energetic driving force of the fusion collective Snarky Puppy. He left the band in 2018 to focus more on solo projects and has since become one of the driving forces behind the contemporary jazz scene.
