British musician Joe Jackson is returning to Groningen.
“Hello cruel world / I’m not going away / So I might as well have my say,” zingt Jackson op zijn nieuwe album. Sinds zijn debuut Look Sharp! uit 1979 heeft Jackson zich ontwikkeld tot een veelzijdige artiest die moeiteloos schakelt tussen pop, jazz, klassiek en bigband. Zijn veelzijdigheid en tientallen albums tonen zijn vakmanschap als componist, pianist en verhalenverteller. In zijn lange carrière won hij een Grammy en schreef hij daarnaast filmmuziek voor onder andere Tucker: The Man and His Dream en Queens Logic. Zijn teksten zijn scherp, zijn composities rijk en gelaagd.
Waar veel van zijn tijdgenoten hun passie, stem of zelfs hun leven zijn kwijtgeraakt, blijft Joe Jackson zich vernieuwen. Hope and Fury is misschien wel zijn beste plaat tot nu toe. Tijdens deze show speelt hij met volledige band zowel nieuw materiaal als nummers uit zijn omvangrijke catalogus.

In his long career, he won a Grammy and also wrote film scores for films such as Tucker: The Man and His Dream and Queens Logic. His lyrics are sharp, his compositions rich and layered.
While many of his contemporaries lost their passion, their voice, or even their lives, Joe Jackson continues to reinvent himself. Hope and Fury is perhaps his best album to date. During this show, he will be performing both new material and songs from his extensive catalog with a full band.
