Vanaf donderdag 15 mei vormt Groningen het decor voor het tiendaagse stadsprogramma MENA, waarin de kunst en cultuur uit de MENA regio, het Midden-Oosten en Noord-Afrika, centraal staat. Op het programma staan meer dan 40 activiteiten, van theater, muziek, film, verhalen en talks tot literatuur en eten. Dit programma, dat een kijkje biedt achter de schermen, bestaat uit 2 onderdelen:
1) Openbare repetitie MENA – Magie van Maghreb
Dirigent Tom Cohen leid je met een zangeres op een unieke reis langs verschillende genres binnen de klassieke muziek van Noord-Afrika. In 2022 dirigeerde Cohen het NNO tijdens Symphonic Music from Middle East North Africa. Ditmaal duiken ze in volheid en rijkdom van de Maghrebijnse cultuur en muziek.
2) NNO Intro Live
Ontdek de verhalen achter de muziek met NNO Intro Live!
Speciaal voor iedereen die wil weten wat er schuilt achter het concert! Met NNO Intro Live biedt het Noord Nederlands Orkest een unieke en eigentijdse introductie op het programma. Perfect voor jongeren, studenten, en voor iedereen die nieuwsgierig is naar de verhalen achter de noten. Onder leiding van Tea Stamhuis kom je alles te weten over het concert, de dirigent, de muziek. En wordt de vraag waar je zo graag antwoord op wilt niet gesteld? Dan kun je hem gewoon zelf stellen!
Stadsprogramma MENA is HERE
Van 15 tot en met 24 mei 2025 viert Groningen de rijkheid en diversiteit van kunst en cultuur uit de MENA-regio MENA is here staat voor 10 dagen lang muziek, theater, dans, film, talks en culinaire ervaringen uit de regio Midden-Oosten en Noord-Afrika.
Starting Thursday, May 15, Groningen will be the setting for the ten-day city program MENA, which will focus on the art and culture of the MENA region, the Middle East and North Africa. The program features more than 40 activities, from theater, music, film, stories and talks to literature and food. This program, which offers a behind-the-scenes look, consists of 2 parts:
1) Public rehearsal MENA – Magic of Maghreb.
Conductor Tom Cohen will lead you and a singer on a unique journey through different genres within the classical music of North Africa. In 2022, Cohen conducted the NNO during Symphonic Music from Middle East North Africa. This time they dive into fullness and richness of Maghrebian culture and music.
2) NNO Intro Live
Discover the stories behind the music with NNO Intro Live!
Especially for everyone who wants to know what lies behind the concert! With NNO Intro Live, the North Netherlands Orchestra offers a unique and contemporary introduction to the program. Perfect for young people, students, and for everyone who is curious about the stories behind the notes. Led by Tea Stamhuis, you will learn all about the concert, the conductor, the music. And isn’t the question you so desperately want answered? Then just ask it yourself!
