In Origin van Scapino Ballet Rotterdam maak je kennis met drie opkomende avant-garde dansmakers: Olivia Court Mesa en het duo Sarah Baltzinger & Isaiah Wilson. Zij wonnen de XL Production Award en maken ieder een wereldpremière bij Scapino Ballet Rotterdam. Het programma wordt aangevuld met een verbindende dansfilm, in samenwerking met Cinedans filmfestival.

In GOATS dompelen Baltzinger & Wilson het hoofdpersonage onder in een hallucinerende wereld. Kijkend door een absurde lens wordt de toeschouwer uitgenodigd om samen met de dansers een weg te vinden tussen werkelijkheid en illusie. GOATS is een fantasierijke satire op de hedendaagse tijd en de psychologie van de massa.
Olivia Court Mesa
In The breakable us verkent Court Mesa de lichamelijke en psychologische reactie op tragedie. Ze reflecteert op collectief trauma, overleven en de weg van duisternis naar kleur. Met haar rauwe en intuïtieve stijl maakt zij een indringend statement over menselijke veerkracht en hoop.
Origin – A New Wave of Avant-Garde Dance
In Origin by Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, you will be introduced to three emerging avant-garde choreographers: Olivia Court Mesa and the duo Sarah Baltzinger & Isaiah Wilson. As winners of the XL Production Award, each of them presents a world premiere with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam. The program is enriched with a connecting dance film, created in collaboration with Cinedans Film Festival.

In GOATS, Baltzinger & Wilson submerge the protagonist in a hallucinatory world. Viewing reality through an absurd lens, the audience is invited to navigate the fine line between illusion and truth alongside the dancers. GOATS is a fantastical satire on contemporary society and mass psychology.
Olivia Court Mesa – The breakable us
In The breakable us, Court Mesa explores the physical and psychological responses to tragedy. She reflects on collective trauma, survival, and the journey from darkness to light. With her raw and intuitive style, she delivers a powerful statement on human resilience and hope.
